This is the field where the fate of the English speaking world was decided. As in, there would be no English speaking world without this battle. The previous day, we learned about the Scottish clans’ instruments of war, so to visit a battlefield and imagine their weapons in action was a little horrific. And yet, the field was so, so peaceful on that sunny Sunday.
Stones like this one marked the graves where members of each clan were buried. In the well behind this stone lie members of what I believe are the Maccillivrah, Maclean, and Maclachlan clans.
